Upcoming VDLC Course Offerings
The Vancouver & District Labour Council has 2 more courses scheduled before the end of the year.
Grievances: Initiation to Arbitration is an in-depth course that will see participants tracking a grievance from initiation to arbitration with a focus on how all steps rely on the foundations of a good initial investigation, understanding of the collective agreement, and development of a sound theory and clear remedy. In other words, what is the grievance issue and what is the solution?
Participants will learn about technical issues, privilege, a steward's or officer's duty of fair representation, precedent, determinants in advancing or withdrawing a grievance at various stages, when to seek outside legal advice and what an arbitrator is looking for.
Date:
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
November 22, 23 & 24
9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Location:
Maritime Labour Centre
1880 Triumph Street
